' It is easy to see the difference between someone who is walking aimlessly and someone walking with a clear intention to get somewhere. In the oriental martial tradition, this close relationship between intention and movement is reflected in the expression ' Yi directs Chi', where Yi can be translated as mental intention and Chi as action or behaviour. Standing on a dune top, reconnecting with the space in six directions around us, will make movement in these directions possible. If the eyes and the mind, for any reason, are not familiar with one of these, movement and posture won't be able to develop freely there.'

'Speak' - 'sound' - 'heart'  form together : 'intention' (Yi)

'The Chinese Character foi Yi combines the pictograms for 'heart' and 'sound', implying that when we act with clear intention, the expression is coming from the heart, the core of our being. '
